Safeguarding

The Catholic Church is committed to the welfare of its children, young people and vulnerable adults to ensure that they have peace of mind, and that they will be cared for and loved by their Christian community. The Church, and individual members of it, undertake to do all in their power to create a safe environment for children or vulnerable adults who might be vulnerable to abuse physically, sexually, emotionally or spiritually.

Promoting a safe church environment by encouraging good safeguarding practice, and helping ensure that children, young people, and vulnerable adults are protected from harm within the church’s activities and ministries.

At Parish level, this responsibility includes responding to and reporting any concerns and facilitating the Disclosure procedure.
